SCREENING OF VATSALA

Naritaav partnered with a team and successfully release a short film called Vatsala in 2013, directed by Cunal Ranjan. Vatsala is a story with a socially relevant message about child adoption. It is a story rooted in realistic cinema, yet with mainstream sensibilities. We envision Vatsala as the marriage of the contemporary and the classic, cutting across a wide range of movie-lovers, especially the urban multitudes that frequent multiplexes. The screenings for Vatsala were held at India International Centre in association with Control Arms Foundation of India (CAFI), Habitat Film Club with Indian Council of Historical Reseach (ICHR), Port Blair with the Social Welfare Advisory Board, and at Nariki Chaupal with Ministry of Women and Child Development. The movie received appreciation letters from several organisations, such as the Andaman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Andaman and Nicobar administration, Andaman and Nicobar State Social Welfare Board, and from the Office of the Labour Commissioner, Port Blair.

CONFERENCE ON CHILDREN WELFARE AND HOLISTIC ENVIRONMENT

Naritaav held its second conference on Children Welfare and Holistic Environment held at India International Centre in association with Embassy of Nepal, New Delhi, sponsored by Sleepwell Foundation in 2017. Our esteemed panelists for the conference included Mr GS Singhvi (former judge at the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India), Ms Srijana Adhikari (from Nepal Embassy), Dr Ramesh Bijlani (an Indian author and retired professor of physiology), Ms Usha Thakur (social activist) and IPS Vimla Mehra (first woman Special Commissioner of Police in Delhi Police) and Dr Nimesh Desai (director at Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences). A lot of topics such as quality learning mechanisms instead of restricting knowledge to textbooks, availability of competent teachers, importance of sex education, discrimination against women and children as wells as vulnerabilities of trafficked victims were discussed at length in the conference.
